The game, in three numbers
If you've never played: two boxes, twenty-one feet apart, three washers a turn. It takes a minute to learn and a lifetime of Sunday afternoons to master.
All the way in the cup. Worth three, called loud, argued about never.

Seven summers of family washer toss on the Miramichi taught us two things: the chirping is permanent, and the tradition is too good to keep to ourselves. Ruby's Washer Toss Classic goes public next August. Seventy-two teams, a dozen lanes, cash prizes, and a banner with room for fifty years of names. The interest list is open now; founding teams get first call when registration opens in spring.
